Week 2 Preview – A7FL 2020 Back in Motion Tournament Presented by Salus

Game 1: Sunday August 2 at 6:30 PM ET

Hawks (1-0) vs Renegades (0-1)

The Hawks are on Cloud 9 after last week’s crazy double overtime win over BIC. As we’ve come to expect throughout his career, Corey “CP3” Price came up clutch once again against his former team. Meanwhile, The Renegades D had trouble last week coming up with an answer to all of the U’s offensive weapons. This Sunday, look for CP3 to once again move the ball around to playmakers like Mike “Sweetness” Liberti and Khaleel “MambaStackz” Greene and of course to call his own number, especially if the things get tight. With the Hawks new look and swagger, the Renegades defense has its work cut out for it.

But the Renegades aren’t ready to lay down after just one loss.  With Cory “The Iceman” Hammond under center, it’s hard to write them off, since he has the ability to turn his veteran prowess into points on the board.  In addition, the Renegades need Edy Petiote to come up big against a stout Hawks defense, and really show off his big play ability that we saw in Week 1.

The A7FL’s 2020 tournament format makes each game even more important so don’t be surprised if this contest turns into a dogfight.  Both squads have the potential to score on any given play and as they look for the best path to the championship,  look for an electric back-and-forth matchup.

Game 2: Sunday August 2 at 9:00 PM ET

BIC (0-1) vs Paterson U (1-0)

In Sunday’s nightcap, Paterson U will face off against perennial league powerhouse the BIC.  Paterson’s high octane offensive machine is primed for another stellar performance, but they’ll face a tough BIC team playing with a chip on their shoulders after last week’s heart-breaking last second double overtime loss.

If BIC wants to avoid the damage caused by Paterson wideouts Joel “Jumpman” Rivera and Kareen “SilkySmoove” Moon, their defense will need to shut down Paterson U QB Quatrell “Huff” Huffin who is coming off of a stellar Week 1. In particular, BIC safety and defensive leader Ron Clerc will need to have a big game if his team wants to turn their 2020 A7FL tourney fortunes around.

BIC’s offense will also try to control the ball and clock to keep the U’s potent offense on the sidelines. BIC QB Jelen Crooms is suspended for the remainder of the season following a post-game altercation and BIC needs to replace this standout following a tough loss and and workhorse RB Jahleel “Courage” Mozie needs to pound the rock relentlessly and keep moving the sticks.

With tough matchups and a short schedule, there’s a lot at stake in Week 2 of the A7FL 2020 Back in Motion Tournament presented by Salus and very little room for mistakes as teams try to inch closer to the Championship. Tune in Sunday at 6:30 and 9 PM ET to catch all the A7FL Week 2 action!
