A7FL Week 5 Results: Paterson U Upsets Animals, Phantoms Stay Hot

Week 5 of A7FL Season 12 delivered one of the biggest shakeups of the year so far. The unbeaten Silk City Animals finally fell, the Lexington Phantoms continued their surge in the standings, and Trenton BIC put together one of the most dominant performances of the week.

With the playoff race tightening and the standings beginning to take shape, every result now carries major implications in the push toward The 7s Championship.


Week 5 Final Scores

Trenton BIC (3–2) def. Virginia Heathens (0–5), 51–14
Fredericksburg, Virginia

Trenton BIC delivered one of the most dominating offensive performances of the week, overwhelming the Virginia Heathens 51–14. BIC controlled the game from start to finish, using big plays on offense and defensive stops to secure a convincing road victory.


Lexington Phantoms (3–2) def. East Orange Renegades (1–4), 33–0
Lexington, KY

The Lexington Phantoms continued their momentum with a dominant 33–0 shutout over the East Orange Renegades. Lexington’s defense set the tone early and never let up, while the offense added enough firepower to keep the Phantoms climbing in the standings.


Paterson U (4–1) def. Silk City Animals (4–1), 39–36
Asbury Park, NJ

In one of the most dramatic games of the season so far, Paterson U handed the previously undefeated Silk City Animals their first loss of the year. The teams traded scores throughout the game, but Paterson U ultimately edged out the 39–36 victory in a thrilling battle between two Eastern Conference contenders.


Las Vegas Sickwidit (3–2) def. Silver State Stealth (3–1), 44–24
Henderson, NV (Pinecrest)

Las Vegas Sickwidit continued to build momentum with a 44–24 upset win over the up and coming Silver State Stealth. Sickwidit’s offense kept the pressure on all game, allowing them to pull away late and strengthen their position in the Western Conference standings.


Las Vegas Insomniacs (3–1) def. Vegas Hunters (0–5), 6–0
Henderson, NV (Pinecrest)

The Las Vegas Insomniacs secured a victory over the Vegas Hunters, winning 6–0. Insomniacs had no trouble in holding off the Hunters to secure an important win.

Through five weeks, the race across the league is tightening.

The Silk City Animals (4–1) still sit at the top of the Eastern Conference despite their first loss, while Paterson U (4–1) and Lexington Phantoms (3–2) are right behind them after strong Week 5 performances. Trenton BIC (3–2) also remains firmly in the playoff hunt after their dominant win.

Out west, both the Las Vegas Sickwidit (3–2) and Las Vegas Insomniacs (3–1) continue to battle for position as the postseason race begins to take shape.
