Las Vegas Insomniacs Capture Third A7FL Championship, Defeat Trenton BIC 52-26

The 2026 A7FL Championship is officially in the books, and the Las Vegas Insomniacs are once again champions! After winning back-to-back titles in 2023 and 2024, the Insomniacs returned to the top of the mountain and defeated Trenton BIC 52-26 on May 31 in Las Vegas, capping off an impressive 6-1 season and adding another chapter to one of the league’s most successful franchises.

The Championship game got off to a blazing start. The defending champion Trenton BIC landed the first punch, scoring early in the opening quarter. But every time BIC made a play, the Insomniacs had an answer. The first half unfolded as a heavyweight championship fight, with both teams exchanging touchdowns and momentum swings in a fast-paced battle worthy of the A7FL Championship stage.

Heading into halftime, the outcome was still up for grabs. The second half, however, belonged to Las Vegas.

The Insomniacs came out firing after the break, quickly finding the end zone and extending their lead with a series of explosive offensive possessions. Despite BIC’s efforts to answer, the reigning Eastern Conference representatives simply could not keep pace with the Insomniacs’ relentless attack.

The game featured several memorable moments that will be talked about for years. Trenton BIC successfully executed the A7FL’s unique Get Back Rule twice, recovering the ball on two rarely seen 3-on-1 return situations to create massive turnovers against the Insomniacs. Both plays energized the crowd and gave BIC opportunities to swing the game back in their favor.

But even those historic plays were not enough to slow down the Las Vegas offense!

BIC quarterback Sterry Codrington, one of the league’s most elusive players, faced constant pressure throughout the game and struggled to establish his usual rhythm with receivers. The Insomniacs’ defense played tight coverage all afternoon, limiting separation and forcing difficult throws.

Meanwhile, Las Vegas quarterback Scott “Scooter” Hamilton delivered a championship performance. Hamilton consistently found star receiver Donjae Lyons, and the duo put on a show for fans with a series of highlight-reel connections that helped fuel the Insomniacs’ offensive explosion. Time and again, Hamilton and Lyons connected for big gains that kept the chains moving and the scoreboard turning.

Trenton BIC’s Jason Cisson electrified the crowd multiple times, turning seemingly impossible situations into game-changing plays, scrambling to the end zone on multiple 3-on-1 returns that kept BIC within striking distance and energized the Las Vegas crowd.

Not to be outdone, the Insomniacs answered with 3 on1 returns of their own. Las Vegas return specialist Eric Shufford delivered one of the biggest plays of the game when he broke free on a 3-on-1 return and took it all the way back for six extending their lead.

For Trenton BIC, the championship appearance capped another successful season for one of the A7FL’s most decorated franchises. The three-time champions and defending 2025 title holders battled their way to the final game but ultimately fell to a Las Vegas team that found overdrive in the second half.

With the victory, the Las Vegas Insomniacs captured their third A7FL Championship led by quarterback Scott “Scooter” Hamilton, playmakers Anthony “RTC” Wilkerson, Donjae Lyons, and a roster loaded with championship experience. Las Vegas once again proved why they remain the standard in the Western Conference and one of the most successful teams in A7FL history.

As the final whistle sounded, the curtain closed on A7FL Season 12. Season 13 is up next!
