The A7FL’s Washington DC Division Hits The Gridiron On March 27th!

A7FL 2022 Washington DC Football

The nation’s capital will get its dose of the future of football this spring as the A7FL unveils its Washington DC division

The A7FL’s Washington, DC division hits the gridiron on March 27th for the A7FL’s eighth Spring season as the nation’s capital gets its first dose of American 7s’ no helmets no pads action.

New division owner and entrepreneur Lawrence Brown, a former Air Force officer who played on the Air Force Academy football team, has been busy behind the scenes. He’s put the pieces together to ensure his teams will be ready to compete – even against the league’s longtime powerhouses including last year’s champions the Paterson U.

“Being able to see this division come to life as a lifelong football fan is a dream come true,” said Brown. “Showcasing top athletes from a city that shuts down on Sundays for football and proving we belong in the conversation for the best talent in the nation means everything, especially if we’re the ones holding up that trophy this July.”

With the league’s second-oldest division, Baltimore, just a short drive up I-95, the DC division will get a not-so-friendly welcome as the two neighbors will compete to become the first non-New Jersey team to hold the A7FL Championship since 2019.

  • Leading the way for the new division is The DC Buzz, a team that looks to make some noise like Washington’s burgeoning nightlife scene. The Buzz take the field in 2022 looking to attack with sound, fury, and precision.
  • Adorned in burgundy and gold, the DC Rockfish aim to be as elusive as their namesake and to catch their opponents by surprise on their way to the A7FL Championship.
  • Keeping an eye on opposing defenses and looking to strike down anyone who crosses their path, the Washington Watchmen have their sights set on protecting their turf and ensuring anyone who touches down on their shores will deal with the consequences.
  • The final DC team pays homage to the namesake of the District, as the Washington Old Guard will ride across the field with only one goal in mind… victory.

“Washington DC was such a natural fit for our league heading into its eighth season,” A7FL CEO, Sener Korkusuz said of the newest of nine A7FL divisions ready to take the field beginning March 27th. “It’s an area with rich football history and a place where our unique brand of football while developing new rivalries with the other Northeast divisions in the A7FL: New Jersey, Maryland, and Massachusetts.”

Catch all the DC teams in action, along with the rest of the league’s nine divisions, when The A7FL’s eighth season begins on March 27.
