Two Time A7FL Champion Corey “CP3” Price Crosses Enemy Lines In Epic Free Agency Move

A7FL free agency moves are in full swing as teams set their eyes on the 2023 football season

While fall football is starting across the United States, the A7FL’s free agency period has begun with a flurry of movement in its oldest division.

As initially announced on the A7FL’s 3-ON-1 podcast, numerous mainstays in the league, such as A7FL announcer/Quarterback Cory Hammond and Wide Receiver Edy Petiote look to be the cornerstones to the burgeoning Rahway ShnowTribe offense, sponsored by Buffalo Bills’ offensive starter Dion Dawkins.

Hammond and Petiote may not be the only offensive players making the jump to the second-year franchise, as the A7FL’s rumor mill continues to churn per sources close to the situation.

The biggest and most shocking move of the nascent free agency period that began after the Trenton BIC won the 2022 championship revolved around the most recent issue of the 3-ON-1 podcast.

Following his initial appearance Corey Price, former A7FL MVP and two-time A7FL Champion with the Trenton BIC, began immediate negotiations with multiple teams in and out of his native New Jersey, with one source confirming that Price had talks with at least one west coast franchise.

Rumors floated around Price as he confirmed to Matt Ryan, Cory Hammond, and Rob Fabien that he was looking for an opportunity to start and go to a place where he was needed as a starter after stepping aside for the BIC’s starting quarterback and 2022 A7FL MVP Sterry Codrington in the opening weeks of the 2021 A7FL season.

“I’ve been thinking long and hard,” Price said on the latest edition of the 3-ON-1 podcast when discussing his decision. “I will be traveling to Baltimore to play for the Baltimore Gators,” Price concluded in a statement that would send shockwaves throughout the league, with many astonished that a cornerstone of the league’s New Jersey division, playing with the NJ Savage, Hawks and BIC as a starting quarterback.

The Gators, dealing with inconsistency at quarterback due to the injury-plagued 2021 and 2022 for Jon Gause Jr, still were a force during the regular and postseason, making it to the A7FL’s Final Four and losing to the eventual champions, Trenton BIC.

While the news about Price’s defection to the Gators was a shock, DC Buzz and A7FL Insider Keith Salmond Jr. reported last week that both the Gators and Rare Breed would have changes in Quarterback for 2023.

Despite having an A7FL MVP candidate in Roekim Chainey behind center for 2022, there were some in the Maryland division that believe Chainey, known as OG Buck, may not have been the right leader deep in big games due to backup quarterback Lenny Manzel stepping in for a few key plays late in their games against both the Tampa Nightcrawlers and the Paterson U.

While Chainey claimed it was an injury that sidelined him, a quarterback competition may be brewing for the team that suffered only one regular season loss in their 2022 campaign, an opening day firefight against the BIC.

With the 2023 season still six months away, the entire A7FL has been put on notice in this free agency, and it seems to be far from over.
